Th tale of vampires, mortals and werewolves is a story that has lasted eons through time. There is bound to be similarities between this and breaking dawn. I read lots of books, have playd VTM as well as looked at the mythology behind these stroies. I dont see why shye should be suing condsidering all of this. In doing so however, has drawn atention to her own novles. I am intere4sted in what these similarities might be so i plan to read it. All in all, this boosts her book sales. *shrugs* it looks like a dirty move but whos to be sure. In essence, it seems petty and hopefully this will end soon. I perfer to see the movies as they come out as well as read this new authors work. Heres the other example that makes me curious... If this was as simple as this author thinks, going after myers, then will she then turn on the writers of &quot;Vampire diaries&quot; for example? No one knows. I perfer that Myers wins her case, I would like to see where Breaking Dawn will ead from here.. With Nessie and Jacob. Frankly, Scott is trying to ride the wind of Meyer&#39;s success, or she truly feels that her storyline was lifted. Of course, she will need to somehow prove that Meyer read the story somehow and that whole chunks of story were lifted--for instance, setting, plot, characterization.<br /><br />My belief? Scott is trying to gain some publicity for her own book. Imagine this: The only access to her book right now is through electronic means. People may be so curious to see whether Meyer actually plagiarized that they will shell out money for the e-versions of her book. I wasn&#39;t a big fan of Breaking Dawn but overall I thought the Twilight Saga was well done and the movie was powerful. In general I think to claim a fourth book in a series to be plagiarized is ridiculous in itself. But also how many books have a scene where there&#39;s marriage, sex and a baby gone horribly wrong? And sex on the beach? Oh there&#39;s a stretch. Someone&#39;s wife dies (I don&#39;t know about Scott&#39;s book but I&#39;m pretty sure Bella lives at the end unless I missed something)? None of these things ever happen to one person right?<br /><br />I think the characters are what makes a story unique and the little details. If we start saying that we can&#39;t use story lines and scenes that are similar to others we are doomed. It&#39;s like saying you can&#39;t write about a wedding or a high school party or a birth. These are general events that no one owns. Plus all of these things, high school, love, marriage, sex, baby, etc. are the general plot of life.<br /><br />If anyone should be complaining it should be Shakespeare. How many Romeo and Juliet stories are out there anyway?<br /><br />I digress <br /><br />I am a writer and I&#39;m sure there&#39;s a story out there with some similarities to one of mine. The cost of a civil lawsuit will cost $200,000 easy and that&#39;s just the start of it.<br /><br />If the attorney is doing it pro bono, then he actually thinks (wrongly) that he can win, because otherwise he gets nothing.<br /><br />I think that it is ignorance. Most people do not realize the complexities of literary law.<br /><br />Scott&#39;s attorney will have to prove that no one except Meyer and Scott have ever used those those ideas.
